All About Sales

Buying films from our site is simple, as you don’t have to be a member to purchase items, and DVD delivery is to any address in New Zealand.

We also welcome international orders, so no matter where you are in the world, you can order (and even pre-order) films to buy from the website with our easy-to-use and secure Checkout.

Simply find a film using our Catalogue Search (top, right) or browsing the Sales Gallery.

Sales Delivery

New Zealand delivery

DVD and video items held in stock are dispatched in 1-2 days. Most other items are dispatched within 7 working days. Customers are notified by e-mail on the day that items are dispatched.

Items are dispatched by ‘Courier Post’, with the exception of single DVD sale items, which are customarily delivered by New Zealand Post (unless the courier option is chosen). From time to time, we also use ‘Post Haste’ Couriers as a secondary service provider.

International delivery

DVD and video items are dispatched by ‘Air Mail’ using the New Zealand Postal Service. Due to the impact of CoVid-19, orders can be expected to be received in 14–28 working days from the placement date of your order. Please note that AirMail charges have significantly increased since July 2020, however we can manually discount compounded freight charges for orders of more than one item.

Placing Orders

Order confirmation: When you place an online order, we’ll automatically confirm it with an e-mail confirmation notice.  If you don’t receive a confirmation by e-mail, please contact us [about/contact.php] as soon as possible.

Hold or split? If you order multiple items, you can nominate your order to be ‘held’ (for all items to be dispatched together), or to be ‘split’ over more than one dispatch.

When an item of an order is out-of-stock with our suppliers, orders are customarily split at no extra charge.

A freight sur-charge may only apply where items are split before the remaining items are received from our supplier.

If you do not choose the ‘split’ option at the checkout, your order will automatically be ‘held’.

Back-orders: Items that are out-of-stock with us and/or our suppliers are back-ordered, meaning that they will be automatically dispatched as soon as they arrive back in stock. In most cases this will be 5-10 days, but occasionally it may be longer. Backorders can be cancelled at any time prior to an e-mail dispatch notice being issued.

Pre-orders: You may pre-order an item before its actual release date. The date of items not released will be stated on the film’s web-page, at the checkout, and also in your order confirmation e-mail.

Urgent orders and fast-tracking: You can mark an order as urgent at the checkout. By checking the box, we will notify you by e-mail if the item is in stock, and if not, the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA). You can then decide whether you wish to maintain the order.

We can also provide a ‘fast-track’ service for urgent items not in stock. These may carry additional freight & handling charges which we would notify you of before confirming the order.

Sales DVD Codes and VHS Formats

DVD

New Zealand has been designated Region Code 4, (along with Australia and South America). Thus most DVD products that we offer for sale are:

  • Region Code 4 (R4)
  • multiple-zone (e.g. R4 & 2)
  • Region Code 0 (R0 or NC) (not region coded)

VHS

  • AroVideo carries VHS in PAL format (this format is also used in the UK, most of Western Europe and Australia).

Returns Policy & Guarantees

AroVideo operates under the Consumer Guarantees Act, however we believe that moral obligations should preside over legal ones, and ‘good faith’ is our modus operandi.

If you don’t receive a rental or sale item in the condition that you expect, please advise us and we’ll do our best to put it right.

Damaged Discs (and Tapes!)

Every effort is made to ensure DVDs and tapes are of the best possible quality. However DVD is not the most robust of formats and VHS tape is indeed prone to damage and deterioration.

We can best minimise this problem by being informed about damage or poor quality. So if it doesn’t work, for your fellow couch potato’s sake, let us know!

If you have any queries regarding refunds, returns or damaged goods, please contact us.

Stock Variables

Please note that cover art for films displayed on our website are a representation only, and do not necessarily reflect the actual retail product.

Unlike our rental library, our database of films for purchase represents a catalogue and not an inventory.  Therefore items listed as available are not necessarily held in stock.

In rare circumstances, we may not able to supply an item because it has been deleted by the local supplier, or we cannot source more stock at a particular price point.  We therefore reserve the right to annul these orders, while presenting alternative options that might be available to source the item.
