Aro Recommended Tracking Down Maggie

UK 1994, 87 minutes
Dir. Nick Broomfield
Rating: [Exempt]
Genres: Documentary

Topics: Politics.

Aroview: Classic Broomfield, in which the persistent Brit spends the entire film trying to secure an interview with former PM Margaret Thatcher, who at the time was touring America with a newly written book.

Filled out with archival footage of the 'Iron Lady's rise to power, this acts as both a portrait of power, enveloped in layers of PR and 'security', as well as the nuts and bolts of the celebrity-chasing. This also solidifies dir. Broomfield's own on-screen persona, which he was to increasingly use a weapon of investigation in later docos like SELLING OF A SERIAL KILLER and KURT AND COURTNEY.
