Aroview: Four adopted brothers of mixed race band together - despite their differences and life problems - to avenge their elderly mother's murder in a vicious Detroit holdup, leading to a blood-drenched crusade against a seedy underworld gang.

Although following a dubious and ultimately sentimental emotional premise, this has rewards in the main character's restless camaraderie and infighting, while dir. Singleton (BOYZ IN THE HOOD) proves his greatest strengths lie in the depiction of harshly violent action. Not exactly recommended, but will provide weekend distraction enough.

3 stars (Good Enough) The premise may be rather weak, and the story is held together by the emotional reason behind the brothers' reunion, but this is an entertaining outing with some good on-screen chemistry and banter between brothers. ~Tom H
