Because Of Winn-Dixie

Aroview: Solid and old-fashioned family movie based on the lauded novel by Kate DiCamillo, in which a lonely girl befriends a small, mischievous dog in small-town Florida, who spreads major (unintentional) destruction, but also enrichens the lives of various eccentric residents.

Not as sentimental as might be expected, SMOKE-director Wang nonetheless constructs various heartwarming moments out of the humourous storyline, while retaining an overall sense of good manners, obedient to the dictates of the target audience. Daniels is good as the girl's preacher father, while rock-star Dave Matthews puts in a creditable performance too.
