Millionaire's Express

aka: Foo gwai lit che
Hong Kong 1986, 98 minutes
Dir. Sammo Hung
In Cantonese with English subtitles
Rating: [M]
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Action/Adventure, Comedy

Aroview: Camp and hysterical genre mash-up, has Samo Hung as a bumbling brothel-owner who entraps a group of millionaire's in his hometown (by destroying the railway lines at the right time and place), so as to usher in a little economic renewal.

With Hung letting loose with both martial arts and comedic barrels, this achieves a high level of screwball relentlessness, events escalating with a criminal gang's plan to take advantage of his eccentric scheme. If plot coherence disintegrates somehow among all the teeming action set-pieces, it remains a wondrous spectacle in the best Hong Kong tradition.
