Odds Against Tomorrow

USA 1959, 96 minutes
Dir. Robert Wise
Rating: [PG]
Genres: Classics, Suspense/Crime / Heist

Aroview: Injecting race problems into a surefire thriller formula, this has an unstable criminal trio - ex-convict (Ryan), crooked cop (Begley) and debt-laden nightclub singer (Belafonte) - join forces for a difficult payroll heist; trouble is, Ryan can't keep a lid on his rascist tendencies towards Belafonte.

With sparks of violence and erotic tension (courtesy of Winters and Grahame) lighting up the generally doom-ridden atmosphere, this rolls onwards to a gripping shoot-out finale. From the novel by William McGivern.
