United 93
Aroview: Intensely affecting recreation of the fated last flight of United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11th 2001, where passengers successfully rose up against the terrorists to avert its use as a devastating projectile against a land target, in the same wave of hijackings which led to the destruction of the World Trade Centre.
The creator of BLOODY SUNDAY, dir. Paul Greengrass, confers a gripping sense of real-time veracity, aided by a cast of 'unknowns' and a few actual participants (including air traffic controllers). As the prelude unfolds with banal familiarity from Newark Airport, into the air, with a sudden wrench into a life and death situation, the film creates a moving portrait of ordinary peoples' reactions and bravery.
