Red Doors

USA 2005, 90 minutes
Dir. Georgia Lee
Genres: Drama

Topics: Indigenous & Minority Cultures.

Feat. Tzi Ma

Aroview: Mild family drama set in the avenues of suburban New York – its point of difference a focus on the late-life crisis of a retiring doctor, and his ambling Chinese daughters.

Light on dysfunction and Asian American foibles, this isn’t particularly interesting as a cultural commentary, but makes good fist of its dynasty dilemma; where the father’s various bungled suicide attempts make for a humorous counterpoint to the relationship woes of his three daughters.
