You're Gonna Miss Me

USA 2005, 94 minutes
Dir. Keven McAlester
Genres: Documentary, Music / Pop/Rock

Topics: Mental Health.

Aroview: The tormented artist is extolled in dir. Keven McAlester’s tragi-documentary of psychedelic rock enigma Roky Erickson, whose success as lead singer of the 13th Floor Elevators was followed by substance abuse, metal degradation, and mid-life crisis.

Outlining the all-too-familiar decline of rock stars hooked on drugs and success, this intrigues especially as a ‘whatever happened to…’ episode, rediscovering Erickson in his fifties, now a slave to his illness and, even more alarmingly, his deranged mother.
