Aroview: Tangled male melodrama stars Daniel Craig as a fading film actor and self-destructive addict, forced to confront his past after the unexpected death of a childhood friend.

Lashings of sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll does plenty to gloss over the flawed fundamentals, including a misguided script, dull characterisations and unsubtle direction all round. Bond hardman Craig is at least charismatic and uninhibited in the hedonistic lead role; for the most part though, this tawdry redemption tale comes up empty-handed in its flashy, if shallow coming-of-middle-age.
