Rocky Road to Dublin

Ireland 1968, 68 minutes
Dir. Peter Lennon
Rating: [Exempt]
Genres: Documentary

Topics: Politics, Religion.

Aroview: Ex-Guardian reporter Lennon recruited French New Wave lensman Raoul Coutard to film this scathing Irish postcard, exposing wayward politics and repressive church life. A rambling, though impassioned portrait of post-revolution Ireland, with priests, schoolkids, and John Huston all having their say.

Includes an excellent follow-up documentary recounting the making of the film, shot in 2004.
