Alice in Wonderland

Aroview: Dir. Tim Burton goes down the rabbit hole in this feverish retelling of Lewis Carroll's classic tale told with his customary visual brio.

Bonham Carter's Queen of Hearts and a wonderfully rendered Cheshire Cat stick in the mind where many of its meretricious pleasures fade from memory, but the same could perhaps be said of the many other tellings of the episodic tale. Certainly enjoyable enough on its own terms and handsome through the looking glass as expected, though back in the real world it stands as simply another in a long line of garish, techni-perfect fantasies, not helped by its "yeah, right" ending.
