Adam Resurrected

Aroview: Troubling tale of a former Jewish circus entertainer who was spared from the gas chamber by serving as the camp commandant's pet dog.

Based on Yoram Kaniuk's celebrated novel this is somewhat flatly rendered by dir. Schrader, who given the loaded nature of the material plays it relatively straight. Goldblum's performance and his electrifying scenes with Dafoe give the film a much needed charge.
