Thompson and Tom Hanks are natural choices for their roles and the film's at its best when portraying the artistic process and the awkward dance of collaboration between two strong wills, though it gets bogged down by its earnest childhood backstory set in Australia. A Disney product itself, its an interesting though limited peek through rose-technicolored spectacles.
