Tangerine
“It’s trashy, lurid, and hilariously profane – exploitation in the best, most cinematic sense – but without ever losing the thread of human ache that connects the handful of characters to each other.”~Wesley Morris, Grantland
Aroview: Energetic and frequently hilarious buddy comedy follows two transgender sex workers as they navigate the unforgiving streets of Los Angeles on Christmas Eve.
While its unscripted clamour and outspoken sexual neuroses sometimes feels (too) close to reality television, its loose threads satisfyingly cohere and it has the distinction of being a break-through feature film to be shot on an iPhone 6.

4 stars (Very Good) Raw and raucous, in style and content alike, but never cheap: for all its implicit topicality, the film treats Street People as Real People, not ciphers for social comment. Funny, with infectious performances, and one of 2015's best final scenes. ~fairbrother

5 stars (Exceptional) A wonderfully told story that is both layered and simplistic. Merges and disassociates subplots with ease, and makes you truly care about a crew of very underrepresented characters. Looks gorgeous to boot. ~Sevenhead
