Patriotism

Aroview: Short film directed by Japanese writer and revolutionary Yukio Mishima, based on his short story of the same name published in 1961. Set in February 1936, when a Lieutenant has been ordered to execute his fellow mutineers after they attempt a coup d'état, but decides instead to commit seppuku (ritual suicide).

Beautiful Criterion edition, restored from the original film negatives after prints were destroyed, and accompanied by a bounty of supplementary features.
