Red Shoes, The
Aroview: Beloved dance classic is a strikingly realised story of a young ballerina who, in an echo of the Hans Christian Andersen story, becomes torn between two men who each represent her romantic and professional aspirations.
Centrepiece is the “Red Shoes” ballet, an audacious and hugely imaginative set piece that still takes the breath away. One of Martin Scorsese’s favourite films, and surely Baz Luhrmann’s as well.
