Originally produced to be a Western. This is based on Sol Yurick's 1965 novel, which was, in turn, is based on Xenophon's Anabasis; The true account of 10,000 Greek soldiers who battled their way across Mesopotamia during the 4th century.

4 stars (Very Good) Wonderful low-budget cult film with hundreds of extras and some wonderful scenes of widespread street-thuggery, this was always destined for cult status. Oh the warriors, come out and plaay-eee-aay. ~Tom H
5 stars (Exceptional) A mix of odd gangs, cool music and a classic story. Some great action set pieces. The Baseball Furies gang never lose their creepy clown-like cool (even if The Warriors beat them). Great for a double-feature with The Wanderers (watch this second). ~Rowlf
