Aroview: Frumpy college prof Barbra Streisand pains to keep her platonic vows in an 'ideal' no-sex marriage to fellow academic Jeff Bridges.

Babs' 'Funny Girl' comes-of-middle-age, repossessing the kind of humility that's too rarely seen in star vehicles. Jeff overdoes the flappish nerd a bit, but overall it's romantic comedy at its most honest, enlightening and entertaining.
