Aroview: Paul Newman laces on the gloves in this round of boxing biography, playing NYC heavyweight Rocky Graziano with true Method-acting guts. Unnecessary life-affirming messages aside, it's the whole gutter-to-glory storyline and ferocious fight-scenes that distinguish this biopic.

3 stars (Good Enough) Loved the early working class street scenes - most of them were shot in the rain. Newman couldn't have been the obvious choice to play a boxer but he is fine- good performance from his mum Eileen Heckart. The bouts are hectic generally.~tubbs
