Aroview: Sweetly sardonic crowd-pleaser indeed took the audience award at Sundance '99, adding a pinch of fashionable 'gay irony' to the more familiar traits of redneck farce. Stinky 'fish-out-of-water' Jeremy Northam and Steve Zahn (terrific) are escaped jailbirds who 'lay low' in the aptly-named small town, finding their guise as gay beauty-pageant co-ordinators the perfect cover to rob the local bank.
