Aroview: In WW2 Czechoslovakia, couple Bolek Polívka and Anna Sisková shelter their Jewish neighbour during the Nazi Occupation, with much absurd comedy being cleverly drawn from the situation.

An arthouse hit throughout the world, this Oscar-nominee is nicely balanced in its sympathies regarding heroism vs collaboration, and though there is plenty of dramatic spine, feelgood spirit wins out in the end.
