Aro Favourite Stone Reader

USA 2002, 127 minutes
Dir. Mark Moskowitz
Rating: [Exempt]
Genres: Documentary

Topics: Literary Arts.

Aroview: A treat for devotees of reading, this unique literary quest concerns the dir.'s obsession with an obscure American novel and quest to find its long-disappeared author.

Although initially a lightweight investigation, buoyed along by Moskowitz's amusing monologue, this develops into an engrossing meditation on one-novel writers, personal obsessions, commercial success and the relevance of the novel in the modern world. Meanwhile, the mystery of the book 'The Stones of Summer' gradually deepens as virtually no one can be found who has even heard of it or its author, Dow Mossman. Thought-provoking and curiously moving.
