Aroview: Thriller of possessive love, set effectively on the rugged coastline of New Zealand’s West Coast, that changes tack mid-way into blackly comic territory that may leave some viewers feeling stranded.
Initiating a perfect premise, handsome stranger Sam Neill hooks forty-ish singleton Rachael Blake in a local bar, but “my place or yours” takes her on an unwitting retreat to his isolated bach on a coastal island.
The film dispenses with the psycho-clichés early on before turning the clichés of romantic-captivity on their post-feminist head, but the film is too busy having fun to eke out the finer points of sexual politics.

5 stars (Exceptional) When Melanie meets a charming and handsome stranger at the pub, she's lured to a deserted island before realising he has alternative motives for the romantic rendezvous. It's a completely unpredictable thriller & love story. The perfect film. ~GenXGirl
2 stars (Good Try) A bit different. ~Tubbs
