Saturated in the romance of cinema, nostalgia, and 'Euro-chic', art-house elder statesman Bertolucci never works up more than a superficial view of his bratty “dreamers”, who quite literally sprawl naked before his camera, ‘borrow’ their personalities from French cinema history, and pay lip service to the politics of the time.

2 stars (Good Try) Well-made & well-acted but but "plot" is almost non-existent. Trivialises important political events. Much running in and out of well-painted doors. ~Sandy
