Scared Straight!

Aroview: A famous, Oscar-winning documentary in which a group of 17 budding teenage crims are shown the harsh realities of prison life, chiefly being lectured by a band of hardened convicts known as The Lifers in New Jersey's Rahway State Prison.

Seemingly effective as a deterrent (although later controversial), this technique has a strong element of graphic shock as the power-structure of prison, revolving around the possibility of anal rape, is outlined to the gob-smacked teens. Narrated by Peter Falk.

This DVD also features one of the various sequels to the original - SCARED STRAIGHT! 20 YEARS LATER - where participants are briefly re-united to see what has become of them. Hosted by Danny Glover.
