Without A Clue

UK 1988, 107 minutes
Dir. Thom Eberhardt
Genres: Classics, Comedy, Suspense/Crime / Spoof

Aroview: A nicely contrived send-up of the Sherlock Holmes stories, with Kingsley playing Doctor Watson, who in fact has invented the character of Holmes as a front for his own detecting prowess.

Investigating a case in the Lake District, he is forced to hire a bumbling, drunken substitute (Caine) who begins to take a liking to the role. This sustains its air of farce right to the end, with Caine and Kingsley striking an excellent chemistry.
