Four Minute Mile, The

Aroview: Set in the post-WW2 era of middle-distance athletics when for a period of eight years it seemed that no one would break the four-minute mark for running the mile.

With international and personal rivalries running high, efforts came down to a battle between Englishman Roger Bannister (Huw) and Australian John Landy (Needles). This teledrama is scrupulously scripted by David Williamson (DON'S PARTY) and produced with a lovely feel for the period, and if the performances are at times lacklustre, it still remains a timeless tale of contest.
