- Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)
- A film about financial desperation and powerlessness portrayed through dialogue between slick talking salesmen. Mostly shot inside the office where they work (the stage for their play). Admired the camera work and the female characters we never saw.
- Limbo (2020)
- Filmed in the Outer Hebrides. The bare, often desolate and unforgiving landscape perfectly matches the situation faced by the four asylum seekers and their individual stories. Comedy wouldn't isn't the first category I think of. rnrnrn
- DVD $29.95
- Letters to Father Jacob (2009)
- It sounds grandiose to say this is a film about the human condition and the need for love and forgiveness, but that's it, delivered with visual beauty, simplicity and totally understated. Universal themes.
- North by Northwest (1959)
- Put aside the dated gender stereotypes and enjoy this film for the superb photography and settings in NYC, the 20th Century limited train to Chicago, and Mount Rushmore with scenes in a set designed to look like a Frank Llloyd Wright house.

- Ladykillers, The (1955)
- Included in the 1001 films. Certainly black, and of its time but brilliantly cast.
- Minari (2020)
- Delightful in every way. Superb performances. Beautifully executed. Would happily watch all over again
- DVD $29.95 | Blu-Ray $34.95
- Ida (2013)
- We watched this based on the Aro ‘staff selection’. Watch it! The black and white photography is exquisite, the acting superb, and the view of post war Poland heart breaking.
- Maiden (2018)
- Beautifully made documentary. A universal story set in the context of sailing: determination in the face of obstacles that looked insurmountable, including bare faced sexism. A wonderful watch.
- Wendy and Lucy (2008)
- Beautifully shot nice length film with stunning performances all round, including from Lucy the dog, as herself.
