Rent online with AroVideo and have the finest films delivered direct to your doorstep, apartment or front porch.
The Aro Courier Rental service is film and date specific, which means you can order a particular title for delivery and viewing on a particular day, anywhere in New Zealand.
While films are subject to availability, alternative choices can be provided at the checkout, or by nominating titles from your wishlist.
There are no subscription fees—we only charge you for the films you order.
'One-off' regular orders are dispatched by courier and can be received the next business day. Orders for weekend-viewing must be placed by midday Thursday.
'One-off' regular orders to rural/RD address are dispatched by NZ Post for delivery in 3-5 days. We recommend orders for weekend viewing are placed on a Monday.
Our Round-Trip Concession offers the best value for Home-Delivery rentals, however delivery methods are optimised as follows:
Mimimum of 2 titles per order are delivered by Post for delivery in 2-3 days, and also couriered at our discretion.
3 or more title orders are dispatched by overnight courier to all NZ addresses except for rural/RD addresses, which are dispatched by Post for delivery in 3-5 days.
Have films delivered to your downtown office on the day of ordering. Orders just need to be received before 12pm (noon).
Note: Courier services for home delivery operate Monday—Friday only.

DVD and video rental is made affordable with the online 10-Trip concession card, which saves up to 43% of the cost of hire.
In order to control the international distribution of films, the major Hollywood studios devised a system that divides the globe into six Regions (also called ‘Zones’). New Zealand and Australia have been assigned Region 4 (R4). Only R4 or R0 (no region coding) discs are compatible with all DVD hardware sold in NZ, including computers and gaming consoles.
For DVD rental we offer:
We source direct imports from the US, the UK, and other territories where the local Region 4 edition has not been released and is unlikely to be in the near future.
Your DVD hardware will need the necessary specification to play these discs. Region 1 DVDs also require television monitors to be compatible with the NTSC broadcast system.
A ‘multi-zone’ (or ‘region-free’) DVD player can play any DVD on the planet (incl. rental ‘imports’ at AroVideo), irrespective of the country of manufacture.
Find out how to make your DVD player multi-zone capable.
AroVideo operates under the Consumer Guarantees Act, however we believe that moral obligations should preside over legal ones, and ‘good faith’ is our modus operandi.
If you don’t receive a rental or sale item in the condition that you expect, please advise us and we’ll do our best to put it right.
Every effort is made to ensure DVDs and tapes are of the best possible quality. However DVD is not the most robust of formats and VHS tape is indeed prone to damage and deterioration.
We can best minimise this problem by being informed about damage or poor quality. So if it doesn’t work, for your fellow couch potato’s sake, let us know!
