Aroview: A yuletide chucklefest, with Allen and Curtis playing a suburban couple, the Kranks, who decide to opt out of Christmas celebrations when their daughter plans to be away for the season.
This money-saving exercise arouses great disgust from the Kranks neighbours, and when family plans are suddenly changed, they must engage in a frenzy of last minute festive catching-up. Never developing into the comedy of mean-spiritedness and anti-commericialism it promises, this still has its highlights, with Allen (THE SANTA CLAUSE) renewing his skill at the 'Christmas' genre. Note: believe it or not, this is originally based on a John Grisham novel.

2 stars (Good Try) Christmas comedy about a couple who cancel all Christmas festivities to save money for a cruise ship vacation instead. Only grabbed my attention at the end when a mysterious character enters the frame. Strange & sadly lacking in real humour. ~GenXGirl
5 stars (Exceptional) a fantastiuc story fantastic movie ~natebeav
3 stars (Good Enough) A film with "Christmas" in the title that is worth watching. Jamie Lee is a delight and she and Allen work well off each other. A talented support cast includes Dan Aykroyd and Emmet Walsh. A well written screenplay. ~Tubbs
