Aroview: A crippled man journeys into a remote Mexican canyon in order to end his life, but becomes entangled with a saintly old woman, village politics and a pantheistic revelation of the rugged landscape.
Echoing the cinema of such maverick directors as Bunuel, Sokurov, Tarkovsky and von Trier, this marks a sensational debut for its 31-year old creator, while perhaps at times betraying his youthful over-ambition. Perhaps most astonishing for the widescreen imagery which encompasses the total beauty and cruelty of the setting, leading to an unforgettable and striking finale.
