Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song
Aroview: The 'blaxploitation' classic that is often celebrated as ostensibly the first film truly created by a black person in America, starring "The Black Community" and "Rated X by an All White Jury".
Produced, written, directed and starring Melvin Van Peebles, this concerns a desirable street dude who is forced to leave his job in the sex industry and go on the run after dusting up a few rascist cops. Thence stringing together various episodic encounters with crims, bikies, voodoo-ists and other assorted American weirdos, this struggles to find narrative coherence, but has a certain funky dream logic. Of course, as with all 'blaxploitation', the music is excellent, in this case by Earth, Wind and Fire.
