Genres: Science Fiction / Independent
Topics: Computers & Tech, Mind-bender.
Aroview: A group of computer engineers tinkering with technology in their garage (hoping to escape their dayjobs), reach a turning-point when two invent a 'device' with strange properties.
It soon becomes apparent that the mysterious 'box' enables a limited form of backwards time-travel, which is secretly used for various advantageous schemes. By the film's final act, the time-looping paradoxes and stories-within-stories that eventuate become a little confusing, though will surely stimulate much post-viewing discussion. Shot for only US$7000 by its novice writer-director, this is an accomplished effort in minimalistic, high-concept filmmaking, even the focus lapses and half-audible dialogue contribute to the dreamlike tone.
Those who expect full comprehension after the final reel should beware though, this is a classic mind-boggler.

3 stars (Good Enough) An over-rated arthouse film that tries just a little too hard to be too confusing. Great premise and intrigue, but fails to take you anywhere other than in circles. ~Tom H
4 stars (Very Good) A primer in the principles of great Science Fiction: screw the effects, it's all about the ideas. Completely baffling, and excellent. ~HiFi
3 stars (Good Enough) I've given it the benefit of the doubt - had trouble picking up the dialogue - no hard of hearing on my DVD - which added to the complexity. ~Tubbs
3 stars (Good Enough) Very enjoyable, I especially liked the realism of the dialog ~Catapillar
