Queen of Sheba's Pearls, The
Aroview: Set in post-WW2 England this centres its tale on a rural West Country family, whose members are on the cusp of various life passages, upset by the arrival of a mysterious Swedish woman who has a certain family resemblance...
Dir. by the maker of the Swedish HOUSE OF ANGELS, this reveals an unexpected cinematic panache, though its grasp of magic realism is not sufficient to blend the story's tragedy and comedy with quite the fineness it deserves. All the same, a mostly unknown cast bring sparking conviction to the task at hand.
