Zatoichi 26
Aroview: An enjoyable, autumnal revival of the 1960s-70s samurai movie franchise, with a much older Katsu reprising his role of the blind swordsman and also taking the dir.'s chair.
New screen standards made this the most violent of the 26 ZATOICHI films, with many of the period sets ending up soaked in arterial blood, but the lighter side of the series is also represented in a modicum of humourous dialogue and gags. In a sense, this compiles many of the classic gags moments from the earlier films - making it an excellent, if predictable, summation of a career of a cinematic icon.
