We Don't Live Here Anymore
Aroview: Toughly gritty and unfairly-overlooked drama about two marriages knotted together in dual adultery, career-crises, and personal cynicism, which avoids any predictable convolutions on its progress towards a messy conclusion.
Drawing upon an almost blandly-familiar setting of American academia, a college professor (Ruffalo) cheats on his wife (Dern), with the wife (Watts) of his best friend, a struggling writer (Krause) - and vice versa - and each reacts with unexpected jibing, hurt and indifference. Dir. Curran reprises the air of ugly-beautiful emotions which distinguished his debut PRAISE, drawing fine performances from all the leads.
