Time of the Wolf
Aroview: Chilling, disconcerting post-apocalyptic nightmare that begins with Isabelle Huppert and children fleeing into a barren French countryside, before banding together with a handful of survivors in wait for help that never comes.
Dir. Haneke's piercing dialogue on Western civilization remains firm and deeply troubling, even more so in the wake of recent major disasters. The first half is particularly arresting, enveloped in a pitch black claustrophobia that lends an anxiety to proceedings typical of Haneke's cinema.
