Girl in a Mirror
Aroview: An acclaimed tribute to the life and times of Australian Carol Jerrems, who from the late-1960s onwards rose to fame as a gifted photographer with a penchant for confrontational, taboo-breaking subject matter (rape, youth gangs, sexuality), but who was cursed with a rare blood disease.
Opening a window for non-Australian audiences on Jerrems' compelling work, this may be somewhat esoteric at first, but convincingly builds a case for the photographer as a major artist and also provides a rare glimpse into the world of 1970s counter-culture.
