Monster Road
Aroview: A revealing peek into the strange world of Bruce Bickford, a reclusive self-taught animator, most famous for his collaborations with Frank Zappa in the 1970s and 80s, whose eye-goggling 'claymation' creations push the utmost limits of detail and extreme content.
Bickford's work was in some ways a form of escape from a difficult home life and caring for his sick father, but this doesn't quite explain his recurring obsession with creating cannibalistic giants, melting faces, rampaging pixies and miniature torture chambers. Exploring Bickford's world through interviews with himself and his father, this creates a portrait of human strangeness and familial interdependancy almost on a par with the CRUMB family.
