New Oceania, The
Aroview: Dir. Shirley Horrocks continues her excellent series on local artists and literary figures with an enthralling study of 'South Pacific' writer Albert Wendt, whose cultural roots are divided between Samoa and New Zealand.
Since the 1970s Wendt has produced acclaimed novels, short stories and plays, as well as providing the basis for the films SONS FOR THE RETURN HOME and FLYING FOX IN A FREEDOM TREE. This documentary looks at Wendt's career through numerous interviews, framed by his return to Samoa to receive an important tribal honour.
