5 stars (Exceptional) The wife of a barbaric London gangleader & theif has an affair with a gentle bookseller who dines at her husband's restaurant, run by a cook who despises his boss. Despite the cruelty, torture, murder & cannibalism, it's beautifully filmed. Pure genius. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) Very clever movie - I love how each scene is dramatized by the changing color scheme - The characters are hypnotic and another stella performance given by Mirren - Recommendation - Babbettes Feast (culinary/historical/french)rn ~Anon
5 stars (Exceptional) A gorgeous work of genius. The colours, the shots, the actors and the story really show off Greenaway’s imagination. A violent and sometimes ugly must see. ~bikewrench
