Last Holiday
Aroview: An infectiously optimistic Queen Latifah here plays a retail clerk diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, who decides to reprioritise her life and savour her last few weeks savouring a dream European vacation.
Starting with some broadly-drawn humour, this soon develops an enjoyably quirky streak as Latifah bonds with a temperamental Swiss chef (Depardieu) and lays out a few unexpected and politically astute home truths to her oily and unsympathetic corporate boss (Hutton). Even LL Cool J is likeable as a shyly besotted co-worker. Remade and gender-switched from a 1950 movie with Alec Guinness.
