Incident at Blood Pass, The

aka: Machibuse
Japan 1970, 113 minutes
Dir. Hiroshi Inagaki
In Japanese with English subtitles
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Action/Adventure

Aroview: Pedigree shogun face off between genre icons Mifune and Katsu in a tautly conceived show down over hijacked gold between a remote mountain pass. Expert direction from Inagaki (SAMURAI TRILOGY) assures this isn't far behind Kurorsawa's best samurai films, while its 'High Noon' premise is reminiscent of many of a great Western.
