Sleepless Town

Aroview: Hybridistic pan-Asian thriller set in the 'sleepless' red-light district of Tokyo, where petty crim Kaneshiro must revisit his gangster roots when warring Chinese and Korean factions turn up in town with serious grudges to settle.

Despite an attractive cast and stylish visual upholstery (a la CHUNGKING EXPRESS), this gets slightly lost in its violently-twisting plotlines as the hero struggles through mixed-loyalties, lethal situations and a touch of doomed romance. Should especially appeal to those well-versed in Asian genre conventions.
