Slim Dusty Movie, The
Aroview: Quaint and nicely-crafted account of the life of Slim Dusty (1927-2003), C&W singer par excellence, who rose from outback musical roots to become perhaps the most iconic balladeer in Australian history, singing hits like 'The Pub with No Beer' and 'Walk a Country Mile'.
This unconventional biopic is part-recreation, part-dramatisation and part-concert film, dir. Stewart blending all these ingredients together with a pleasing folksy charm as Slim tours the small towns, the rodeo shows, and meets all sorts along the way, his amiable personality coming through loud and clear.
