Unsentimental and conclusively bleak, Miranda Otto’s enlightened casting vastly improves this downbeat journey through the spiritual quandary of religious healing. Dir. Holland (EUROPA, EUROPA) adds a touch of refinement to the melodramatic material, though certainly works no miracles with it either.
