Because I Said So
Aroview: A cushy, formulated ‘chick flick’ made-to-order, concerning an over-controlling mother’s attempts to engineer her daughter’s luckless romantic pursuits.
Diane Keaton is sassy, if entirely degraded as the film’s meddling matriarch, while her supporting players (Moore, Perabo) are more or less disposable amidst the blinding hair sheen and girly clichés. Even so, this manages to appease as a facsimile of more tried-and-true rom-coms, while Lauren Graham adds some much needed comic nous as a still-spunky variation on her GILMORE GIRLS role.
