Last Legion, The

Aroview: CGI fantasy dramatising the plight of Rome's last emperor, the child Romulus Augustus, and his protectors - Firth, Kingsley, and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai - who whisk the boy away from attacking Goths to England, just in time to seed a slightly whiffy whakapapa for King Arthur and his knights.

Classics scholars will bawk at the lack of historical credence, however as a throwback to the roman serial adventures of yesterday, this holds some value as a gaudy sword and sandal romp. Certainly though, miscasting (the less than commanding Firth, in particular) and an absence of big screen craft means the film falls well short of its epic ambitions.
