Dororo
Aroview: Electrifying action fantasy based on a manga comic by the grandfather of Anime - Osamu Tezuka (ASTRO BOY), in which an abandoned samurai's son goes on a quest to kill 48 demons and retrieve what is rightfully his.
Stunningly shot in various NZ locations, and featuring an array of brilliantly choreographed fight scenes, this moral allegory of human identity explores some decidedly darker-than-your-average-fantasy themes, including child abandonment and infanticide. Perhaps not for the wee kiddies, then, but will undoubtedly capture the hearts and minds of fantasy fans and adventurous audiences alike.
